An increasing number of people across the north shore and northern beaches are choosing to stay at home for longer instead of moving straight into full-time care. KOPWA’s home care packages have never been more popular. We’re not surprised. Home care offers a multitude of benefits to ageing individuals – giving people more freedom over their lifestyle for longer. It can also be personalised to unique interests or needs, and adjusted as these naturally shift over time. Here are some of the top reasons why we’re experiencing such a boom in home care:
Remaining independent for longer
Living independently naturally becomes harder as we age. Slowly integrating some support services into your life can free up some of this burden, enabling you to enjoy your favourite hobbies and spend more time doing the things you love. Home care allows you to remain in your own home and to maintain your independence for as long as possible. It can also help you transition more seamlessly from living fully independently to going into residential care, over a number of months or even years, so you never have to compromise your quality of life.
Unique services for unique lifestyles
Home care can be customised to each individual’s needs, unique hobbies and interests. At KOPWA we offer personalised care packages for people to choose the level of care and services they require. For example, someone might simply need a little bit more help around the house, doing the shopping, paying the bills or driving around. Over time, they may want companionship – someone to read, knit or play chess with, or social support to keep them connected with family and friends. As their needs change and they begin to require more high-level services, they may choose to add medical supervision, meal preparation and personal care to this package.
An affordable care option
Contrary to what many people think, home care does not have to cost the earth. We have many self-funded retirees who take advantage of our affordable fee for service care within the community. Home care can also be subsidised by the Australian Government, offered in levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 depending on your level of care required. An Aged Care Assessment (ACAT) will need to be completed and this can be requested via My Aged Care, your GP, a nurse, social worker or other health care professional you may currently have contact with.
Home care may be the ideal option for individuals who require a little more assistance, while maintaining their independence from home. For more information about our home care packages, care philosophies and support options, contact us at KOPWA today.
